Cristiano Ronaldo’s last name is actually his second given name. He was named Ronaldo in honor of US President Ronald Reagan by his parents.
Back when Ronaldo was 15, he was diagnosed with a heart problem called Tachycardia which caused him heart palpitations. But thankfully he was able to get laser surgery which cured him of the condition.
Ronaldo was nicknamed ‘cry baby’ by school teammates because of his passion to cry when the person to whom he passed the ball failed to score. At age 14 Ronaldo threw a chair at its teacher because his teacher disrespected him and he was expelled from school.
Surprisingly Ronaldo does not imprint tattoos because Ronaldo donates blood often and you have to wait up to a year after getting a tattoo to make a donation.
Ronaldo can be relied upon to donate whenever there is a global crisis. After the tsunami and the earthquake hit the Indian Ocean in 2004, Ronaldo visited an effective Indonesian location and helped fundraise for the reconstruction of the city. He sold his 2011 Golden Boot for nearly two million dollars and gave the money for schools in Gaza.
In 2014, he was ranked as the world’s highest-earning player. Combining other incomes along with his he made a whopping 73 million dollars. And in 2017 that moved up to 93 million.
The Madeira Airport was renamed the Cristiano Ronaldo Airport in 2017 and a statue of him was erected in the lobby. Unfortunately, the statue barely resembled Ronaldo so it was replaced with a more accurate depiction in 2018. Other Ronaldo statues pepper Portugal including one in his hometown of Pancho.
He played his first senior game for Portugal Sporting CP when his age was just 17. And in 2003 at the age of 18, Ronaldo joined Manchester United, beginning a professional career that is now legendary.
