India is a land of talent. And with its 1.3 billion population, the country is full of surprises. In Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, lives a barber who uses his mouth to cut hair. Yes, you read that right. Ansar Ahmad is India’s only barber who has the skill to operate scissors using his mouth.

The Journey of Ansar Ahmad:

The barber has been cutting hair since he was a child. His current style though, is the result of a minor accident he met with in 2001. According to Ahmad, when one of his hands got injured, he didn’t have any other way to earn money.

“As I couldn’t work with one hand, I used to face a lot of problems at that time. It took me three years to learn the art. Now, I can easily cut hair holding scissors in my mouth”, says the barber. Although both of his hands are fine, Ahmad prefers to use his mouth for hair-cutting. This unique skill requires him about 25-30 minutes to serve a client.

You can find Ahmad at ‘Liberty Hair Dresser’ in Jagatganj area of Varanasi. But you’ll most probably need to book an appointment if you want him to cut your hair. His matchless talent has given many people a perfect hairstyle, and as a result, his salon often has a queue of clients waiting for their turn.

Ahmad’s Guinness Aspirations:

Awestruck by all the fame and love he received from his fans, Ahmad held a campaign at his salon on May 03, 2016. He planned to set a record by cutting hair for 25-hours, non-stop, holding scissors in his mouth, and without charging any money. The main aim of this camp was to get registered in the Guinness Book of World Records.

His Vision:

Ansar Ahmad wants to open a hair cutting training center for the physically handicapped and visually impaired, so they can support themselves. He has also trained some physically disabled children of his village.

We can all learn a lesson from Ansar Ahmad. He is an example of gearing up in life and struggling against extreme situations.
