“Sleep deprivation” is a condition in which an individual is deprived of basic sleep and can be caused due to stress and poor sleeping habits. This can have adverse effects such as decreased brain function, an increase in weight gain and a negative impact on hormones. Furthermore, it can also cause- fatigue, clumsiness, and a variety of mental and physical health problems. It also leads to severe health-related problems like insomnia.

Get that sunlight!

Sunshine contains Vitamin D- an important nutrient to our body. The bright light also tells your body to stay awake. In turn, your body tends to get tired for the night and improves sleep quality and duration! Any other substitute for bright light will also get the job done. Just remember to bask yourself in plenty of bright light during the day time!

Your phone is your biggest enemy!

Electric devices contain “blue light” which is not good for our bodies. This light reduces the hormones which allow you to relax and sleep better. So, while sleeping, chuck your phone away and charge it away from where you are! Furthermore, in the evening, try to minimize the use of electronic devices for better sleep. You can also download apps that block the blue light on your screen.

Caffeine is the root of all problems!

Caffeine in excess is extremely harmful to your body. It excites the nervous system and chases away sleep. Furthermore, caffeine tends to stay in your system for 6 to 8 hours. Do not intake coffee after the evening for better sleep quality. Rather, opt out for drinks that are natural and full of nutrients instead!

Your sleep conditions matter too!

To get better sleep, you must ensure your sleeping conditions are favorable to you. Choose a bedroom that has minimal traffic noise and external light. Also, adjust the temperature such that your body is comfortable and can relax. A clean room will help you sleep much better too!

Everyone loves to sleep. But the sad truth is that not everyone gets enough sleep. One must ensure to get 7 to 9 hours of sleep daily to escape from developing severe health conditions due to sleep deprivation. Sleep plays a vital role in your health.
