Election Polls have started in India and everyone will be busy through this month, voting and counting. The biggest Festival of Democracy has begun and here is some trivia about the Unique Polling stations of India.
The election officers, who are geared up for the first phase of the elections, will be trekking up an altitude of 13,583 feet, so as to reach the highest polling station in the country. The Luguthang polling station in the Mukto assembly segment, Arunachal Pradesh, is the highest poll booth in the country.
In the same state, but another district, election personnel will also hike up to Malogam Polling station in Anjaw district, Arunachal Pradesh. The unique thing about this polling booth is, that there is only ONE voter registered to vote here.
And moreover, it is a Woman, who will be the sole voter at this station. The polling personnel includes a presiding officer, security personnel and porters. They will take an entire day to reach Malogam station from Hayuliang on foot, “They may have to be in the booth for an entire day. We don’t know when she will come. One cannot be forced to cast his or her vote early,” said one of the officials.
There are about 7,98,248 voters in Arunachal Pradesh with 3,94,456 men and 4,03,792 women and the turnout should be good which is why EC has taken measures to make sure, No one is left out !
