Director Anu Menon is all set to introduce Vidya Balan as Human Computer through her movie ‘Shakuntala Devi’.
The poster and teaser of the movie was out months ago, few days earlier the makers released the trailer as well as informed the release date which is 31st July’2020. Earlier the release date was 8th May’2020, but due to corona virus pandamic, the date and platform of the release has changed, and now the movie will release on Amazon Prime, one of the famous OTT platform.
Shakuntala Devi, apart from being a human computer was an astrologer, cookbook author and a novelist. She holds her place in the 1982 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records as a mathematics genius.
In her life she also demonistrated her mathematical ideas at colleges, in theatres, on television and radio as well. She wrote different books related to numbers and puzzles. And out of her several books, The World Of Homosexuals was a famous one. Some of her other books were Figuring The Joy of Numbers, Puzzles To Puzzle You, Astrology For You, etc.
She proved that intelligence has neither age bar nor gender hinderance. At the age of 5, she solved a mathematical problem meant for an 18 year old. People who feel Mathematics is tough and no fun, for them she is an inspiration.
She won the ‘Distinguished Women Of The Year Award’ in 1969, from the University of Phillippines along with a gold medal. And in 1988, she was honored with the ‘Ramanujan Mathematical Genius Award’ in Washingtom D.C., also in 2013, she was honoured with ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in Mumbai.
Portraying such a great women on screen is a moment of pride for Vidya Balan, and she feels that the perfect fit for this role is nobody but her. By the movies like Kahaani, Tumhari Sulu, Mission Mangal and many more, she proved that she herself is a strong women, who is ready to portray other strong characters. Along with Vidya Balan, one could see bollywood actress Sanya Malhotra in the role of Shakuntala Devi’s daughter. It will be fun watching two talented people together on screen.
For the role of Shakuntala Devi, she already chopped her hair short so that she get the similar look. The poster which was shared by the makers shows a calculator, computer and Vidya Balan portraying Shakuntala Devi in one frame. All these things are ranked as 1st, 2nd and 3rd, where the Calculator has the position 3rd, whereas the Computer holds the 2nd position, and the Human Computer stands gracefully at the first position in a red saree.
Through her interview she expressed her happiness and excitement on playing the role of Human Computer. Hope the Biopic of a mathematic genious who takes the journey of numbers as a fun ride be worth watching.
