Nita Ambani, the chairperson and founder of ‘Reliance Foundation’, a non-executive director of ‘Reliance Industries’, and wife of Mukesh Ambani, has a family fortune estimated in excess of $50 billion, a family which is among the richest in India. Recently, the Ambanis hosted a magnificent wedding ceremony for their son Akash Ambani and his long-time girlfriend Shloka Mehta. The wedding, which took place on March 9 in Mumbai, was nothing less than a fairy-tale, and was attended by the big shots of business and Bollywood.
The Ambanis had another wedding only a few months ago, when their daughter Isha tied the knot with Anand Piramal, Executive Director of the Piramal Group, and both these weddings have made headlines, as 2 of the most extravagant weddings of our times. According to certain reports, over a hundred and ten crore rupees were spent on this marriage. The wedding card for Akash and Shloka’s marriage was reportedly worth 1.5 lakh. The cheapest room in the luxurious hotel that was booked for around 500 guests for a weekend in Switzerland reportedly costs around Rs. 1 lakh a day.
Now that we have an idea of the grandeur of this royal wedding, it shouldn’t come as a shock to know that Nita Ambani has given a gift worth Rs. 300 crore to her daughter-in-law, Shloka. As per a report in Woman’s Era, it is a humongous and exquisite diamond set, known as the ‘L’Incomparable’. The L’Incomparable holds the Guinness Book Record for being the world’s most expensive diamond necklace, as the statement gem on the 18k gold necklace is a whopping 407.48 carat ‘Incomparable’ diamond.
Earlier reports suggested that Nita wanted to gift Shloka the heritage gold necklace of their family, however later changed her mind as she wanted to gift something unique and special to her daughter-in-law, and thus decided on buying this necklace. Apart from this, Shloka also received a palatial bungalow as a gift from her sister-in-law, Isha Ambani Piramal.
